The Chesil Theatre
The Winchester Dramatic Society has been performing plays in Winchester for over 100 years. Since 1966 they have been based at the Chesil Theatre – a former 12th century church in Chesil Street. They provide high quality amateur drama for the people of Winchester and the surrounding area, performing mainly at the theatre but occasionally elsewhere. There are around 250 Chesil members, including two thriving youth groups.

The Colour Factory

The Discovery Centre
Combining the best of libraries, with an exciting world of learning, leisure, entertainment and fun. Comedy, live music, lectures, film, theatre, dance, conferences, whether it’s for 100 people cabaret style or 180 in tiered seating, the Discovery Centre will accommodate them all. Winchester Discovery Centre is family friendly, with lifts, toilets and baby changing facilities. There is disabled access and some software is available for people with a hearing or visual impairment.

The Link Gallery
The Link Gallery is a modern exhibition space in the University’s West Downs Centre. Since its opening in 2001 several successful exhibitions have been held mainly by artists from, or with a connection to, the Wessex area. For the past two years the Gallery has also been one of the venues for Triptych, an annual exhibition of sixth- form art work held every February by students from Peter Symonds College, St Swithun’s School and Winchester College.

Theatre Royal Winchester

Winchester Cathedral
The Cathedral provides an interesting, inspiring and challenging arena for the arts. Permanent exhibits include work by Antony Gormley, Barbara Hepworth, Eric Gill, Cecil Collins, Peter Freeman and Peter Eugene Ball. Those interested in exhibiting at the Cathedral will be asked to follow a formal application process with reference to the Cathedral Arts Policy.

Grange Park Opera
Founded in 1997, Grange Park Opera has quickly established itself as one of the jewels in the opera calendar. When the season at Grange Park closes they take one show to the Festival at Nevill Holt in Leicestershire, where they also present a second production given by Nevill Holt Young Artists. Both places provide a matchless setting for the summer Festivals taking place during June and early July each year.

Hat Fair
Hat Fair is Britain’s longest running Celebration of Street Arts and Community. In 1974 it started as a buskers’ festival where performers passed around a hat to collect a donation after their show — hence the name Hat Fair. The name has stuck and performers are still allowed to Hat, in fact the small-scale circle show is at the heart of the Festival. Now the programme includes innovative community projects, markets, a big picnic, a huge childrens’ procession, International large-scale work and commissions, music and large scale spectacular.
