The Hat Fair is an internationally renowned Street Theatre Festival that takes place on Friday 6^th July, Saturday 7^th July & Sunday 8^th July.  Performers come from all over the world to perform at this vibrant festival of music and street performance.

Wet Picnic Theatre Company and the Hat Fair have teamed up with the Heritage Lottery Fund to produce a project in which 6 groups of young people research 6 different topics, such as Education, Religion, Commerce, Politics, Care and Creativity and will perform pieces based on these topics at 6 different sites across the city on Friday 6^th July 2012.

My group are undergraduate students from the University of Winchester and our topic is CARE. The site we are performing at is ABBEY GARDENS (opposite King Alfred’s Statue).

We are inviting adults from the CARE profession to come and meet us and talk to us about how their profession contributes to the community of Winchester and we will use this as research to inform and develop our performance for the Hat Fair.

The group meets once a month on Thursdays between 5.30 – 7.30pm – so it is not a huge time commitment and can fit around your studies easily.

We are meeting NEXT THURSDAY 1^st MARCH at 6PM in O’NEILL’s PUB for a social get together and a chance to chat about the project – so please come along if you are interested!

Our next workshop is on THURS 15^TH MARCH from 5.30 – 7.30pm in Sports Hall Lecture Room 1.

A showcase with a difference will get the party started on Saturday evening and Sunday will bring a mass celebration to the streets of Winchester. There are some spaces available for both events but get in quick because they will fill up fast! Get involved and be part of the Winchester 2012 legacy. All proceeds from the events will go the Mayor of Winchester’s Charities 2012 – 2013.

In ‘Running to Meet the Maker’, anatomy, mechanics, science, faith and mankind are just a few of the themes hidden within Paul Richards’ new show at the Link Gallery. The exhibition brings together not only his more acknowledged works on paper, produced with mind-boggling complexity, but also demonstrates a move towards the third dimension. Alongside these are illustrations produced within the last year for both commercial and personal projects that give an indication into Paul’s strong affinity with technical drawing and obsessive detailing.

Running from 5 March to 9 April, the Link Gallery is situated on the University’s West Downs Campus and the Private View will take place on Saturday 10 March at 6pm.

The Great Hall is the stunning backdrop for a new dance work by Hampshire choreographer Liz Richards. Performed by twenty members of Hampshire Youth Dance Company and twenty members of the local community, the history of the building and its striking architecture is juxtaposed with the fluid beauty of contemporary dance.

‘In These Four Walls’ is the first 20:20 Vision project, a series of commissions by Hampshire Dance that celebrate twenty years of achievement and innovation and look forward to future development.

Getting more out of Microsoft Office 2007/2010 – Tips and Tricks for Every Level of User

This three hour workshop will shine a spotlight on how to get more out of and operate Excel, Word and Outlook 2007/2010 more easily. The focus will be on the huge power of Excel and how it can be exploited in many different ways. Excel expert, Laurence Martin of Black Swan Training Solutions, will show you a range of tips and tricks that will help experienced users and those that need to know more. As well as covering tricks for setting-up your spreadsheet and formulas quickly, you will also learn how Excel’s presentation and analysis tools work.

This workshop will be held in a university classroom with PC workstations, so no need to bring your own laptop.

Understanding Your Target Audience with Jane Buswell

Imagine practicing archery wearing a blindfold, or ten pin bowling with your eyes closed. In both cases, being prevented from seeing your target would mean that it’s highly unlikely that you would hit it. Similarly, doing business without identifying your target market will prevent you from reaching your objectives whether this is increased sales, market share or brand awareness.

This talk will help you define your target audience and begin to understand what makes them tick so that you can use more resonant marketing messages. If this is something you have found difficult in the past we have no doubt that you will find this enormously helpful.

The Colour Factory is a long established artist group with many years experience of working in the arts sector as individual artists, with educational organisations and in the public sector. This is a unique opportunity to join the group and benefit from the wealth of resources and support that being part of a co-operative can bring. 

As well as a lovely warm studio space, and all facilities on hand, you will be able to sell your work in the gallery, take advantage of The Colour Factory’s innovative education space and large beach garden to run workshops, use their extensive network of contacts to promote your work and become involved with the many projects and commissioned opportunities that come The Colour Factory’s way! Oh and a love of cake is also an advantage!

The studio has 24 hour access. We are offering half studio space with storage;
other extensive storage facilities on site; shared telephone, computer/Internet access, kitchen and bathroom.

You will be asked to present samples of work and come for an informal interview with three TCF members.
