On 24 March 2012 the clocks go forward and there will be the annual series of cultural events across Portsmouth, with everyone searching for The Lost Hour. The theme this year is Literature and is open to a wide range of creative responses.
This year, the Conan Doyle Collection will be focussing on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book, The Lost World, as part of this city wide event.
This is an opportunity for artists and arts groups based in or around Portsmouth to be involved in The Lost World. Artists can be from any discipline and must demonstrate how they will use their art form to fulfil the brief.
Working with Portsmouth’s geology collection, we would like a programme of work to be developed before the event that includes involvement and participation from schools and community groups, with a final event culminating in a ‘Find the Lost Dinosaur Egg!’ on 24 March 2012.
The event can take place in the following areas, either in a venue or on route:
- Portsmouth History Centre
- City Museum
- D-Day Museum
- Cumberland House
There is a total budget of up to £1000 available, which will need to cover all costs such as artists fees, meeting fees, hiring equipment, venue hire, travel and parking costs, public liability insurance and CRB checks.
Please contact Tom Kinsey at arts@portsmouthcc.co.uk for a full artists brief.
